- Name: Mike Methe
- Project: Gulf-Pro Services : Oil Field Equipment Rental
- Location: Houma LA
- Date: August , 2018
- Testimonial: “Gulf-Pro Rental warehouses very heavy equipment used for the oil and gas industry. Located on the Mississippi River Floodplain, the soil is typically low strength and subject to shrink-swell and subsidence. Forklifts are constantly moving equipment pallets over concrete slabs on spongy soil. The front axles are heavily loaded (up to 40,000 pounds) and hairline cracks originate in the slabs due to flexing. The daily forklift traffic takes a toll on the concrete and the cracks widen. Eventually soil squeezes through these cracks leaving voids underneath. The situation worsens as the slab settles and deteriorates resulting in safety hazards for the forklift drivers. The owner selected the highest traffic area to do a structural repair using TorqueStitch® ST12-10 Mechanical Stitches to bring the slab back to an acceptable floor. The nature of the test slab location, coupled with high traffic forklift load over the under-reinforced concrete is quite significant; this structural repair assessment project is about as aggressive as conceivable. The slab was repaired with eighteen TorqueStitch® ST12-10 Mechanical Stitches and to date, the crack has NOT reappeared. The repaired concrete slab continues to function safely for forklift traffic. The TorqueStitch® concrete repair system uses post-tensioning rebar stitches anchored into solid concrete to bridge the crack and apply a compressive force over the fracture. Post-tensioning is achieved by tightening the anchor on the machined wedge applying force along the stitch and hook. The system is engineered to reestablish compression, stabilize the structure and transfer load away from the crack creating a permanent fix. The patented TorqueStitch® structural solution has successfully extended the service life of this concrete slab for years to come. “

- Testimonial: “Over the past 10 years we have designed hundreds of swimming pools, retrofits, and renovations. For older pools we have found that it is not cost effective to remove and replace large areas of damaged concrete. In the past, contractors often glued metal “U” clips or pins around the crack. Often times this method was not successful and the fracture reappeared. For many of these older structures we have found that a combination of adding reinforcement, post tensioning, anchor stitching, and epoxy injection helps restore the tensile strength across the crack. For concrete pool and deck repairs, the TorqueStitch process combines a variety of these methods and is considered the most effective methods to stabilize fractures. The TorqueStitch Anchor Stitches are highly recommended as the best solution to restrain future movement in slabs. “
